My 98's boomin' with a trunk of funk
So today I was forced to go to the 'other' site for where I work. Its not that I dislike the place a great deal, its just that I dislike the 1 1/2 hour commute. Actually, the place is a bit of shit hole as well, so that doesn't help.and to make matters worse, when I got there (after a week of not being there), I discovered that while the cat was away, the mice had well and truly played. So I spent the day bullocking people for, well, being stupid.
Our organisation is run on a very clearly laid out set of policies and procedures, most of which I flaunt and/or break regularly, but that's me and not them. So when I see said (broken) rules being flaunted in front of me... I get a little annoyed. For starters, it annoys me when people are stupid enough to get caught. One of said stupid staff members got 'caught' by the government. So he had to be marched down to the security office so they could give him a bullocking as well. Followed, of course, by a bullocking to me for allowing it to happen. Needless to say he got yet another bullocking from me when we got back to the office.
I mean really... it doesn't take that big of a brain to know that you shouldn't keep your password cracking software on a government computer. Yes we use it, yes we need it (users are really stupid. "I password proctected this super important, the nation will die without it document, then I went away to the carribean for 6 months... and forgot the password. Can you help?"), no you shouldn't get caught with it on your computer.
And all that before 10:00. (only because I got there at 9:30 though)
Sadly, it went down hill from there.
But in other news, I'm at the stage where I'm actively looking/planning on a career change. Ok, when I say looking/planning I mean there was a plumber at my house today and I thought: 'I wonder if I would make a good plumber?'. But I am going to take some remedial courses to make sure that I have some basic level of education before I decide what I really want to do for the next 10 - 15 years... (I've been in IT for 12 years). Wish me luck... and if you have any bright ideas? answer's on a post card please.
oh... and for the record: I like my Vegas clock with dice for numbers. Thanks dad!
