To some I’m prophetic/To the rest I’m pathetic
Not much going on at work lately. Everything is pretty much at a dead stop for the christmas period. However, the end of the year has brought a bit of a surprise for me. It would seem that 'they' have screwed up my holiday entitlement for next year. It turns out that 'they' think I've got 5 days left to take for this year and that I am going to carry them over. Which means that they have given me 30 days holiday for next year.Which in theory means that I'm getting closer to my goal of only working 10 months a year by the time I'm 40... sort of. what the hell though... its important to have goals I say!
today I'm at the 'other' site... which just means that I'm sitting around with less to do than at the other site. the only down side is that I only have very restricted web access... unlike the other site where I have full unrestricted web access. In simple terms it just means that I can play more games at the other site than I can here...
In other news, I've been spending a lot of time working on my new website... or as it is now being coined: my web application. Sound impressive doesn't it! For those that are interested, we are looking at programming it in AJAX with an SQL database supporting the application. Its important that I look at this as an application and not as a website, otherwise I get bogged down in how it should look, rather than how it should work. My 'business partner' used the term 'lick of paint' the other day when referring to how I was looking at the process all wrong! that is to say get a bare bones site working - and working well - then put a lick of paint on it. I have the exact 'look and feel' of the website perfect in my head, so that's not going away, but I don't have an exact 'how it will work' in my head... so that needs all my time on it for now.
But its going to take some time. We are going to launch the website a stage at a time, so watch this space for news of testers needed!
I'm off for christmas after tomorrow... so I hope you all have a good time doing what ever you deam as 'a good time'.
