Shakabuku
I just wanted to clear this up. First of all, here is the exact quote:"You know what you need?"

and secondly its not really a cheesy movie, its from the brilliant Grosse Pointe Blank. (ok, its a bit cheesy)
Anyway... I've had a few things happen over the last week or two that have made me realise the true extent of my needing shakabuku. First of all I was working with another manager at work and we were trying to determine the amount of paper/toner used per person/per month. and yes... yes I do have all the fun. but anyway, it occurred to me that I know absolutely nothing about statistics, and how to work them out. and I felt a bit stupid.
then a couple of days later the great and wonderful rumor mill made its way around to my desk and I was informed that my boss and put in for voluntary redundancy! woohoo! I not only heard it from a senior manager, but when the HR manager was pressed about it, she simply said that she couldn't confirm or deny any such allegations. That's a yes if there ever was one.
So the end result of which is that I have to bite the bullet and go back to school. be in just remideal math/english or the great and wonderous Masters.... we'll see what they let me get away with. but enough is enough. shakabuku made me realise I'm not really remotely close to reaching my potential. but its better to figure that out at 32, and not another 20 years down the road.
